Open Time for Public Comment
Mayor, councilmembers, Staff, Ken Dickinson, San Rafael Meadows I respectfully request you move the open time for public expression back to the beginning of the Agenda where it used to be and where you will find it at most other city and county meetings including our own county of marin. Or at least as a compromise move it to the middle?
This will remove the public perception, warranted or not, that you are intentionally “chilling” public participation. Let me say that again, intentionally “chilling” public participation.
I was looking at our Organizational Chart in tonights package. It shows The Mayor and City Council, City Attorney and City Clerk all reporting to the Electorate, all of us. So even more reason to accede to the request.
Also I would like to refer back to a comment from the City Attorney about the use of Video and “those things underneath”, the captions to support the minutes.
If we are to rely on video for context and memory, given we all live very busy lives with overwhelming demands on our time, then can we at least have an easily accessible caption file available as they have at the Marin County supervisors meeting, Posted for anyone to have access to, alongside the video without needing to request it. These would then be those older verbatim minutes the gentleman referred to, the best of all possible worlds I would say.
If someone were to say the cost prohibits it, I can make a transcript of this meeting instantly using my iPhone voice memo. The technology is now available, the cost is free to affordable all that is lacking is for you to agree to the proposal. I respectfully request that you do so.
