Re: Request to Pull (Hold) Item 2b from the January 20, 2026 City Council Agenda; re: Temporary Camping Prohibition at City Hall:
Dear Mayor Colin, Councilmembers Bushey, Hill, Llorens Gulati, and Kertz, and Ms. Lara I am writing to respectfully request that Consent Calendar Item 2b of the January 20, 2026 City Council Meeting Agenda be pulled (held) and addressed under Item 5 - Other Agenda Items, for staff presentation, discussion, public comment, and vote. Item 2b pertains to a Temporary Camping Prohibition at City Hall.
I am requesting this be pulled from the Consent Calendar because the temporary camping prohibition raises concerns for the residents and business owners of San Rafael about where the 10-15+ individuals will relocate to during the closure. This is not addressed in the staff report and the City should inform the public about this. The staff report does mention that there may be other reasons besides pest control and maintenance to prohibit camping, which raise the prospect that these 10-15+ individuals may not be allowed to return to City Hall. In addition, the staff report mentioned 350 Merrydale which raises additional questions about where these individuals may relocate to.
I trust Mayor Colin and the City Council will hold item 2b from the Consent Calendar, as requested, and in particular I would hope Councilmember Bushy, as my representative, will request this item be held . In submitting this request, I also request that it be entered into the public record for the above reference City Council meeting and agenda item.
Thank you,
Gregory Andrew
