Subject: [Needs Review] Urgent: Traffic Gridlock at Manuel T. Freitas Parkway/US 101 San Rafael officialsThe current closure at the Manuel T. Freitas Parkway/US 101 interchange has reached a critical point. The resulting gridlock is no longer a simple inconvenience; it is a daily logistical nightmare for families and staff, centering directly on our local schools.
In any major infrastructure project, a fundamental principle of civil engineering is to minimize the duration of public disruption. Given the severe impact on our local economy and school commutes, a June 2026 completion date is frankly unacceptable. The community needs to see a plan that reflects the gravity of this bottleneck.
Could you please address the following:
• Phased Reopening: What is the schedule for gradually reopening specific lanes or ramps to provide relief before the final completion date?
• Urgency and Expediting: Why is this project not being treated with the urgency it demands, and what specific measures are being taken to move the 2026 deadline forward?
• Accountability: How can residents and local stakeholders best advocate for a more aggressive construction schedule to ensure this remains a priority? The current timeline suggests a lack of urgency that our community simply cannot afford.
Thank you for your direct attention to this matter and for providing the transparency we deserve.
