To: Distrib- City Clerk <[email protected]> Subject: Public Comment - June 15 CC Meeting - Item 2.a Mayor Kate and Members of the City Council,
I urge the City Council to move forward with the Starkweather Path lighting project and use a schedule that relates to darkness since this is about safety.

The proposal for evening lighting from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m doesn't make sense based on when the sun sets in the summer. That won't serve the intended purpose for ped safety at night during much of the summer.

Alternatively, you could operate the lighting "until 90 minutes after sunset" or 8:00 p.m., whichever is later. This approach aligns with the City’s goal of limiting overnight illumination while ensuring the lighting remains available when it is most useful to people walking and bicycling.

Thank you for your consideration.
