Subject: Evacuation Planning
For the SR Meadows/Merrydale community.
With the likelihood of at least 100+ affordable units to be constructed on the 350 Merrydale site, any additional evacuation plans for our cul de sac neighborhood is a paramount safety concern.
In the event of wildfire or flood, only Merrydale/Route 101 provide an adequate exit.
Bottlenecks might be alleviated - and for very little cost - if the current Corrillo Drive bicycle/pedestrian exit to the bike path paralleling Los Ranchitos Road were adapted (remove a couple of polls and add typical RR crossing barriers that go up and down when a train crosses), I believe it would help alleviate the current likely bottleneck. In case of flood, it also has the advantage of being at higher elevation than the Merrydale/101 junction. It is located next to 211 Corrillo Drive.
Enclosed are a couple of pics of the pathway (first from Corrillo, the second from the Los Ranchitos side.

I suspect that this project could be a template to provide an immediate response to homelessness. I encourage you to support the 350 Merrydale Road project and help move this important housing solution forward. Thank you for your consideration.

I’m writing to express my support for the 350 Merrydale Road housing project.
This project offers an important two-phase approach: providing 65 interim shelter units for people experiencing homelessness in San Rafael, followed by the development of at least 80 units of permanent deed-restricted affordable housing.
I support this project because:
- It provides an immediate response to homelessness while creating long-term affordable housing.
-The site is less than a half-mile from the SMART Marin Civic Center Station and is served by Marin Transit, providing residents access to jobs, services, and other communities. -It is close to county offices, healthcare, social services, and nonprofits that can support residents.
-It puts a vacant, underutilized property to productive use and leverages existing infrastructure rather than expanding development into new areas.
I encourage you to support the 350 Merrydale Road project and help move this important housing solution forward. I support either finalist for development.
Thank you for your consideration.
Best,
