SUBJECT: Planning Commission Interviews and Appointment
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staff recommends that the City Council review the applications, conduct the interview, and appoint one candidate to fill the upcoming vacancy on the Planning Commission for a term to expire June 2027.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Planning Commission consists of five regular members with staggered terms. Current Planning Commissioner, Jean Kuznik, has a term expiring June 2023 which will result in one vacancy.
The Clerk’s office listed the vacancy on the City's website and social media accounts soliciting applications. A total of ten applications were received by the May 29, 2023 deadline.
Applications were received from Payal Bhagat, Laxmi Bhat, Pallavi Gandhi, Sarah Gao, Prajoel Karki, Jean Kuznik, Srinivasa Manapragada, John McLaurin, Rajiv Manapragada and Sagar Shah. Prior to scheduling the interviews, one applicant, Sagar Shah, withdrew their application.
The appointed candidates term will start July 1, 2023.
