CITY COUNCIL STAFF REPORT
DATE: July 31, 2023
TO: City Council/City Manager
FROM: Christina Franco, City Clerk
By: Joan Snashall, Acting City Clerk
SUBJECT: Parks & Community Services Commission Appointments
RECOMMENDED ACTION
Staff recommends that the City Council review the applications, conduct the interviews, and appoint four candidates to fill the vacancies on the Parks & Community Services Commission.
Three candidates for a term to expire June 2027 and one candidate for a term to expire June 2025.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION
The Parks & Community Services Commission consists of seven regular members with staggered terms. The term limits for Steve Bried, Heidi Kenniston-Lee and Julia Oseland expired June 2023. The City Clerk’s office received notification that Heidi Ellicott-Pesic was resigning from the Commission effective July 10, 2023, therefore resulting in four vacancies.
The City Clerk listed the vacancies on the City's website and social media accounts soliciting applications. A total of five applications were received by the May 14, 2023, deadline. One application was withdrawn on June 19, 2023. On June 28, 2023, the City Clerk reopened the recruitment soliciting additional applications. Three additional applications were received by the June 28, 2023 deadline, increasing the total number of applicants to seven. Applications were received from Madhuri Adettiwar, Steve Bried, Kyle Levy, Srinivasa Manapragada, Julie Oseland, Dave Owens, and Sagar Shah.
The appointed candidates' will begin their terms immediately upon appointment.
FISCAL ANALYSIS
None.
