CITY COUNCIL SPECIAL MEETING
June 26, 2025
1. CALL TO ORDER/ROLL CALL
The Mayor called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.

2. COUNCIL BUSINESS
2.1 Planning Commission Interviews and Appointments
The City Council conducted 6 interviews. Todd Flavio withdrew his application, and Sarah Gao, Don Yakulis, Sajeev Sidher, and Srinivasa Kottakota were considered by application only.
Vice Mayor Verose's motion to create a two person ranked waitlist of qualified candidates, should a vacancy occur on the Planning Commission within one year, was seconded by Cm. Adler. The motion passed 5-0-0-0.
The Council took a break at 6:24 p.m. and reconvened at 7:20 p.m.
Public comment was received from Max Zhang. Written public comment in support of Don Yakulis received in advance of the meeting was provided to the Council.
Vice Mayor Verose's motion to appoint Gary Alpert and Santhosh Kanjula to the Planning Commission for terms to expire in June 2029, was seconded by Cm. Rubio. The motion passed 5-0-0-0.
The Council chose not to fill the third vacancy or create a waitlist from the remaining candidate pool.
Direction was provided to staff to reopen recruitment for the Planning Commission for two weeks to fill the remaining vacancy.
