His son offered to help and found the keys to the building and turned them in, and was then arrested by Sanger Police Department. Mr. Vera said he contacted the police department and a female officer he spoke to behaved horrible. He asked for advice and who he should speak to.
Mayor Gonzalez suggested Mr. Vera speak to staff after the City Council meeting.
Kelly Bans stated that, with all do respect, she would appreciate it if the media present refrained from taking pictures while she is speaking. She expressed her concern regarding residents who lack trucks to transport their trash to the upcoming Community Clean Up event. She inquired whether the City could arrange for curbside pickup. She said that City’s like Fresno and Clovis offer curbside trash services.

Unidentified audience member read a grand jury report from several years ago concerning a former City Manager and Council Members. He had questions about various projects, including the incomplete status of Sanger West; delays in the construction of the taj majal (fire department building); the funds awarded by Senator Hurtado for a police communications center. He inquired about the status of the audit and compensation study and why raises were given and new positions filled before the study. The speaker also mentioned a recent sewer odor in Sanger. He said that Sanger was a sinking ship and that he was basically done.
City Manager Olson stated that a compensation study is currently in process. Regarding the $5 million communications center, plans will be available soon. He said that if the fire department project is not complete by a certain date, the contractor will pay a $1,500 daily penaltyto the City.
