Wehavemet with Amir Hourianiwith SouthwestGroupProperties, LLCin person, and had numerousemail communicationsregardingthis project. Hehasbeenvery opento listeningto all of our concernsregardingnoiselevel, lighting, landscaping, flow of traffic and operating hours. Wediscussedlighting concerns, and he confirmedthe positioningof the specialfixtures and we find it satisfactory. Wediscussedthe loudspeakerfor the drive-through, andthat was addressedto our satisfaction. In eachareaof concern, we felt that we wereheard, and adjustmentsmadeif necessary.

Attention: ThisemailoriginatedfromoutsideofCityofSantaAna. Usecautionwhenopeningattachmentsorlinks.

Asyou know, SantaAnais a ParkPoorcity. Whilethe City is doinga goodjob of addressingthis in other parts of SantaAnawe do not havea walkablepark in our neighborhood. WashingtonSquareis in an EnvironmentalJusticeareaand needsgreenspace.

Theownerof the only remainingvacantland in our neighborhoodapproachedthe City of SantaAnaover two yearsago, but discussionshavenot advancedto the seller’s satisfaction. Whenthe Washington SquareBoardof Directorswere madeawareof this opportunity, we jumped into action.

Overthe past year we havegaugedthe interest of the residentsof WashingtonSquare. Thereis overwhelmingenthusiasmfrom almost everyonewe have spokento. Wehavecirculatedpetitions, andto date we have653 signaturesrepresenting394 householdsin WashingtonSquare.

Wehave spokenat severalParksand RecreationCommissionmeetings. TheCommissionerstouredthe vacantproperty last Augustand all agreedit is a perfect for a walkablepark.

Wehave spokento the Measure-X committeeurging them to designatefundingfor a feasibility study which has beenrecommendedby the City Manageras the next step in making this park a reality.

Wehave spokenat numerousCity Councilmeetingsbringing an awarenessto our requestfor a park.

Thisis the only opportunity to put a neighborhoodwalkablepark in WashingtonSquare. Theproperty ownerwants to sell it soonto the City or to a developer. It is our only chance, and the time is now.

Weare requestingyour vote for the first step in makingthis park a reality, pleasevote to approvea feasibility study.
