Good Evening Mayor and Councilmembers,
My name is John Tafoya, and I am here on behalf of the Western States Regional Council of Carpenters representing over 4,000+ members who live, work, and play in this great City and County to express our strong support for the South Coast Technology Center project.

It is clear that the Segerstrom family understands the importance of building quality projects. By partnering with us, they are committed to creating a project that will not only be BEST in class but also BEST in supporting good-paying wages and benefits for the workers building it.

Moreover, as highlighted by the staff report, the South Coast Technology Center project would result in various on-site and off-site improvements that would enhance the community experience and foster a dynamic local economy, creating employment opportunities for all residents in the City.

This is the type of project that the City of Santa Ana and its residents deserve-one that creates high-quality construction jobs, supports the local skilled workforce, and contributes to the local community.

Please support this project.

Thank you,
John Tafoya

Re: Support for Zoning Ordinance Amendment No. 2024-01 for South Coast Technology Center Project
Dear Mayor Valerie Amezcua, Mayor Pro Tem Thai Viet Phan and Councilmembers, My name is Jarrod Ferruccio, and I am writing to you on behalf of Piping Industry Progress and Education, (P.I.P.E.) in support of the proposed South Coast Technology Center project in the City of Santa Ana.

P.I.P.E. was formed in 1980 to improve the critical relationship between labor and management, explore joint approaches to fruitful collaboration and to anticipate areas of need in that relationship, and to improve occupational safety and health and other working conditions. We are the joint Labor and Management Cooperation Committee and Trust Fund for the unionized plumbing, piping, and HVACR industries in Southern California.

We believe that the Applicant has made a great choice in their commitment to hiring locally.

Hiring from the pool of professional, skilled, and responsible contractors of the region will have an appreciable effect on the entire local economy.

That decision will help responsible contractors to provide well-paying jobs with benefits to some of the most hardworking people in Santa Ana and ensure positive impacts throughout the region.

We stand completely behind this project.

Sincerely,
Jarrod Ferruccio

Re: Letter of Support for South Coast Technology Center Project Dear Mayor Valerie Amezcua, Mayor Pro Tem Thai Viet Phan and Councilmembers, My name is Rodney Cobos, and I am voicing my support on behalf of the Southern California Pipe Trades District Council 16 for the proposed South Coast Technology Center project.

We support this Project because the Applicant, C.J. Segerstrom & Sons, has demonstrated an overriding commitment to helping the local economy remain robust and favorable for the local, skilled, and professional construction workforce.

The Applicant's vision is one we appreciate on its own merits, and we are excited to build a project in line with our views on sustainable, economically beneficial development. The Applicant's commitment to hire locally will keep our membership, some of whom live in the city, gainfully employed, and will have a large positive impact on the local economy as a result.

We are in support of this project because Southern California needs more development that is beneficial for everybody from the construction process through the development's lifespan and operation. We believe this project meets and exceeds those standards.
