Youare all familiarwiththe policy. I amcurious: wheredid thispolicycomefrom? Whochampioned this policywork? Whoevertheyare, theyharborauthoritariantendenciesthatnegativelyaffectour democracy. In fact, thispolicyof unknownorigins, is a formof priorrestraint. Priorrestraintis oneof the mostdangerousformsof censorship, a typeof censorshipwhichwasnot evengrantedto stolen militaryintelligencefiles (the PentagonPapers, circaVietnamWar era).
Thispolicystrikesat the coreof our democracy. To craftthis policy, it wouldtakesomeonewhodoes not understandthe ruleof law (see: BrownAct, USConstitution), actsin theirownbestinterest, puts the public's rightto knowafterthemselvesandputsthe city in increasingliability.
I havescreenshotsherefromSantaAnaCollegestudentswhoweredirectlyaffectedandsuppressed by this illegal, priorrestraintpolicy. Thisis the outcomeof yourpolicy-- thesuppressionof college students.
TheIWWFJUwill continueto advocatefor the rightsof journalists, bothin SantaAnaandin Gaza.
Revokethis policy.
