Iwriteinsupportofitem13foradditionalLegacySquareTransportationImprovements, butwiththecaveatthatif we continuetoallowindustrialtruckstouseSantiagoSt, includingdumptrucksconnectedtotheWareDisposalfacility, the pavingwillcrackquicklyandcyclistswillnotfeelsafeusingthebikelane.
ItriedtousetheexistingprotectedbikelaneonSantiago/6thStlastweekandhadtoridepastadozendumptrucks queuingatMadison/WareDisposal (thegassmellpairedwiththedumpsmellwaslovely) andthenhadtododgeobjects andpeopleinthebikelaneinfrontofBruceMetals. I'veriddenupSantiagoto17thandthestreetisreallyscarytobike duetothesemitrucks & workertrucksspeedingupanddown. OnetimeIwasleftinacloudofburningrubberwhen employeesatabusinessatSantiagoStdecidedtoraceupthestreetwhentheygotoffwork. Iameagertoseefurther investmentincyclistandpedestriansafetyinthisarea, butIfearit iswastedmoneyif wedonotalsoaddressthe industrialbusinesses.
