I liveintheSouthCoast Neighborhoodand havechildren that attend Localschools InWard4. 1was not infavorof tile changesproposedintheBristol.--Sunflower-Plaza-MacArthur lock. Forawareness, Itryavoid BristolStbytakingFlowertoSunflowerasmuchaspossibleorMacArthurBlvdto Boardepending on the daybecauseit is alreadycongestedbut most days, it isn't possible.
WhenI learnedofthe$22,000,000"gift"fromthedevetopersto theCityofSantaAna, Iwas shocked. It ismyunderstandingthatWard4will beheavilyimpactednotonlyby upcomingConstructionbutbythe resultoftheRelatedprojectto bringapartmentlivingandretail developmentstotheareaofBristolandMacArthurnearSPlazaDr. 11,Ismyfeelingthatthoseliving inWord4wouldnotsupportsuchaninitiativeexceptto improvethoexistingretailspacedueto the heavycongestionwealreadyexperienceonBristolStespeciallyfrom'the405BristolExitand55 Freeway exit of MacArthur all the way down to Fairview.
In mymind, it would be appropriatefor the$ 22,000,000 giftto stayin Ward4 to benefit the residentsthatwill bedirectlyimpactedbythis change, Isthereanoversightcommitteeso upto review how this money wit( lee property allocated? With Ward 4 accosq to that fund ing, I'd like to niake the f0tLowing suggestions for Your consideration:

Please do something about the flood channel that is next to our schools& children! Mayor Amezcua and Members of the Santa Ana City Council, On behalf of Chispa, we urge the Santa Ana City Council( Council) to direct city staff to include funding for the Police Oversight Commission( Commission) and its Independent Director in the upcoming 2025- 2026 fiscal year budget.
The Council took a meaningful step toward community accountability by establishing this Commission in 2022, following years of advocacy from residents and community organizations. In the 2022- 2023 budget cycle, the Council allocated$ 1 million to support its creation, including funding for an Independent Director and support staff. However, the City has not yet hired a Director, which has significantly hampered the Commission' s ability to investigate complaints of police misconduct and carry out its core functions.
We strongly urge the Council to reaffirm its prior budget commitment, and ensure continued funding for both the Independent Director position and the overall operations of the Commission. The community deserves a well- resourced and fully operational Commission— one that can meaningfully promote transparency, accountability, and trust.

On behalf of Alianza Translatinx, we write in firm support of continued funding for the Police Oversight Commission, including dedicated resources for an Independent Director in the 2025- 2026 fiscal year.
The creation of this Commission marked a pivotal moment in Santa Ana' s pursuit of community- centered accountability and transparency. It was a reflection of collective vision— a reflection of the many voices, organizations, and advocates who called for a more just and responsive city.
As a Trans- led organization rooted in Orange County, we understand how essential it is to build systems that restore trust, protect our most vulnerable, and honor the dignity of all residents—
especially those too often marginalized or harmed by institutional practices. For TGI Transgender, Gender Non- Conforming, and Intersex) people, particularly Black and Brown residents, oversight is not theoretical— it is deeply personal.
The delay in hiring an Independent Director has undermined the promise made to the people of Santa Ana. A Commission without leadership cannot fulfill its purpose. We urge the Council to reaffirm its commitment by fully funding the Commission' s operations and ensuring the immediate appointment of an Independent Director.
Let Santa Ana be known not just for its progressive commitments, but for the courage to see them through.
