Subject: Soccer Parl<
Good Evening Mayor Gilmore and Council members,
Please read this at the council meeting this evening if possible.
As a member of the Executive Board for Santa Clara PAL, I feel that the soccer park is a key part of youth development in our city.
If we do not support our children at early stages in their development we can not expect them to support our city as they grow into adulthood.
Even though I do not have children, I fully support the youth of Santa Clara with any and all efforts to keep them involved in activities within their city and community.
W hat lessons are we teaching our children when their City Leaders will sell out their future to private business interests? Below are some points that need to be taken into account for the Soccer Park. * The soccer park should only be used for soccer.
* This proposed use for the 49ers is a violation of our City Charter. * Measure "R" was approved by nearly 90% of our Santa Clara voters to protect the soccer park from the 49ers and other special interest grabs.
* We defeated York and the City Council 7 years ago, and we will protect the soccer park again. * If they want to use a nearby facility for their VIP's, use their 11-acre practice field right next door. * City already had a parking agreement with the 49ers for the golf course. Jed not only didn't live up to the agreement and stiffed the city, but he turned around and sued the city for 1 million dollars. Councilmember Jain and the other 4 Councilmembers know this. So why in the world would we enter into another agreement. It is proven they break promises!
* If they want to use a nearby facility for their VIP's, use their 11-acre practice field right next door. * We demand that our City Council members represent us, not those special interests that campaign for them. * Council members Jain, Hardy, Chahal, Park and Becker have shown their allegiance to Jed York and not the residents of Santa Clara
~'O` i~ `J~~S;`~~~~~~ ~s~,!~9~T~=~I~A~.
* In the middle of the pandemic, when City Councilmembers should be helping the public and small businesses survive, Councilmember Jain and his fellow majority are only helping the Billionaire Jed York take from our youth. * The 3 million dollars that Jed invested in the City Council is really paying off for him at the expense of our youth.
Thank you for your time and consideration on this subject.
Sincerely,
Mary Ellen Stewart
Santa Clara PAL Executive Board Vice-President

Subject: Public Comment for Tuesday, January 11 regarding item about 49ers using Youth Soccer Pari< Please read this tomorrow night (Tuesday, January 11) during Public Comment when discussing the 49ers using Youth Soccer Park.
To: City Council
From: Maria Mukhar, 15 years old
heard that some of you are thinking about using the Youth Soccer Park parking lot for 49ers parking. Based on the history and previous efforts of the 49ers, I worry that this is the first step in trying to take over our fields again. was only 8 years old when your predecessors tried to steal our soccer fields for VIP parking. I vividly remember that time, and it still brings back immense fear and sadness that the city I called home since birth would try to do such an atrocious thing to its youngest residents who don't have a right to vote. I spoke at the podium, on my tippy-toes to stand up for what was right! Please don't put the young soccer players of Santa Clara through that again. am also concerned that you are not thinking about the environmental impact. Why on earth would you make it possible for even more people to DRIVE to the game versus take public transport? We have that beautiful light rail across the street that is underused. Why not spend your time and energy figuring out how to male more 49ers fans use light rail? That's just the morally right thing to do.
Also, don't even think about taking over and parking cars on our fields again. Don't you realize the damage that would cause? Anyone who knows the history of those fields knows the damage they experienced when used for media in Super Bowl 50. To this day, those fields are not in the same condition they were before. Don't you realize that damaged fields make children more prone to injury? I thought you were elected to represent the people of Santa Clara don't understand why you are prioritizing the convenience of 49ers fans over the health and safety of the children of Santa Clara, as well as our environment.
Though I may only be 15 years old, hearing what you are planning makes me very concerned for my generation. I know what the right thing to do is and what some of you are planning is nowhere near it.

Please do not give the 49ers any more of our valuable space for parking. Our citizens should come first not the almighty dollar.
Thank you for your consideration

Subject: Parking at the soccer park
As a district 5 resident I have no idea how any proposed deal with the 49ers would benefit City of Santa Clara much less our district. Please remember that we are engaged in a litigation file by the 49ers to sue us for over $1 million for money that they paid on a previous agreement regarding the cities golf course. Why would we do business with someone who Sues over a previous contract? We We also got sued over ADA violations regarding the parking lot at the stadium. It will cost us a lot of money just to figure out whether or not it makes any sense to make any money by renting out spaces at the soccer park. There are a lot better ways to spend our resources than this idea that has been shot by people who won't even show up to a council meeting. Subject: Item 7 on Agenda 1/11/22
Council and Staff,Please read my comment at the meeting during Item 7 on the agenda.
Thank you to Council and Staff for listening to my message. actually voted for the 49ers to come to our city and be a part of our city. Unfortunately I have only been subjected to a business that has tried to take advantage of my city rather than be a true partner of my city. Why are we going though this overtaking of our children's fields again? Why Suds, are you are part of this plan? Such interesting questions that deserve explanation. Please don't give us that dear in the headlight look, when we are all about to be run over. feel like actions such as this are just the beginning of the spiral into a drain.
Please be leaders of our community that respect the voice of your people.
Regards,
Linda Zazzara

Subject: Soccer Park -PLEASE READ this email during the meeting Importance: High
Santa Clara City Council,
The Santa Clara Youth Soccer Park is just that, a space for youth to use and enjoy. The Soccer Park is a place for the children of our community to be able to play a team sport that will help shape their lives in a positive way. So much of our open space has been taken way for one reason or another. have lived in the city of Santa Clara for 61+years and I've seen a lot of changes, some better and some not so much. have also coached softball for over 30 years both for SC PAL and Santa Clara High, and taught elementary PE for Santa Clara Unified School District. I know how important youth activities are for children. It teaches them comradery, discipline and a sense of worth.
Youth sports not only benefits the kids, but also the families that support them. Because of youth sports like soccer, baseball, football and softball, my family has made lifelong friendships. Over the years I've had the pleasure to watching several of the girls I've coach become teachers, student councilors and principals within our own district. Now it's their turn to coach and my turn to watch my grandsons play soccer and baseball. As much as I love the Niners, our children deserve the best and this soccer park belongs to them. Please do not allow this to be taken away from them or our community.
Thank you for your consideration.
