Subject: Adjournment of the March 22, 2022 City Council and Stadium Authority Meeting Please adjourn the March 22, 2022 City Council and Authorities Concurrent and Special Stadium Authority meeting in memory of the following individual:
Donald Payton, 34-year City of Santa Clara Electric Department employee and resident Read by Mayor Lisa M. Gillmor
• Donald Payton was born on July 21, 1932 in Oklahoma and was the son and the middle child of Lottie Edwards and John Payton
• He lived in Santa Clara for most of his adult life with his wife Sherry. Together they raised two daughters, DeAnna Cassidy and Lynne Payton.
• Donald was a 34-year City of Santa Clara Electric Department employee. He was hired as an Electric Meter Repair Man in 1961 and held various titles in his tenure with the Department including Electric Meter Man and Electric Meter Foreman. • He retired from City service on December 15, 1995. Donald was active in the community as a member of Liberty Lodge, #299 in good standing for more than 50 years. • He was an active supporter of Jobs' Daughters.
• He enjoyed corny jokes, square and round dancing, and social events with friends. • Donald passed away on March 1, 2022.
• He is survived by his brother John Payton, his two daughters, DeAnna Cassidy and Lynne Payton, his 6 grandchildren (Lisa, Suzanne, Kevin, Bryan, Matthew and Kyle), and 7 great grandchildren (Darian, Dakota, Hayden, Paxton, Mason, Skylar and Matthew).
