Subject: Santa Clara University response to Silicon Valley Power 8% Rate Increase To Whom It May Concern:
Santa Clara University (SCU) has already planned our 2023 utilities budget so we would like to receive more advanced notice than an October 26, 2022 email for a decision, which is to be made by the Santa Clara City Council on December 6, 2022.
SVP's average rate increase over the past five years has been approximately 2.2%. The unexpected proposed 8% rate increase is substantial enough that is will adversely impact our operational budget and potentially impact tuition. We urge the City Council to reconsider such a large rate increase.
