A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA
ADOPTING THE CENTRAL BIKEWAY FEASIBILITY STUDY
FINAL REPORT
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF SANTA CLARA AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, the Valley Transportation Authority adopted the Santa Clara Countywide Bicycle Plan in 2018 to define a bicycle superhighway as a long-distance route intended to provide separation from automobiles;
WHEREAS, the Valley Transportation Authority created the Central Bikeway Study Feasibility Final Report to provide a strategy to develop the bicycle superhighway along El Camino Real in the City of Santa Clara to increase access to transit and other destinations; WHEREAS, the Central Bikeway Feasibility Study Final Report is a planning document designed to encourage bicycling as a safe and healthy alternative to the mot or vehicle; WHEREAS, the Central Bikeway Feasibility Study Final Report development process has been a collaborative effort involving the Valley Transportation Authori ty, the City of Santa Clara, the City of San Jose, the County of Santa Clara, the State of California Department of Transportation, and the public;
WHEREAS, the Central Bikeway Feasibility Study Final Report is consistent with the goals and policies of the City of Santa Clara Bicycle Plan Update 2018; WHEREAS, the Santa Clara Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee supports the Central Bikeway Study Feasibility Final Report; and,
WHEREAS, the adoption of the Central Bikeway Study Feasibility Final Report is exempt from California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) review pursuant to Section 15262 of the California Public Resources Code.
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF SANTA CLARA AS FOLLOWS:
1. That the City Council hereby approves and adopts the Valley Transportation Authority Resolution adopting VTA Central Bikeway Study Final Report Page 2 of 2 Rev: 11/22/17
Central Bikeway Study Feasibility Final Report as attached and referenced herein.
2. Effective date. This resolution shall become effective immediately.
