2. PUBLIC PRESENTATIONS
Video: [00:05:14]
Thomas Granvold stated that neighbors are concerned with more electric bikes on the streets and the speed of them. They would like speed limit of all types of bikes to be set to 15 miles per hour (mph). He also stated that State Assembly Bill 1909 (AB 1909) allows a City to regulate different classes of electric bikes, specifically Class III, allows bikes to cross the intersection on the pedestrian walk signal, and also requires drivers to change lanes when passing bicyclists whenever feasible. Finally, all jurisdictions are now prohibited from requiring bike licensing.

Ken Kratz stated that state law allows bicycles on all roadways and expressways, except for freeways. Bicyclists have legal rights to be riding on the roadways.

Tom Freitas is a member of the Senior Advisory Commission and welcomed the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee (BPAC) to their Commission meetings. He stated that he was concerned with speeding on the San Tomas trail and better posting is needed along with enforcement.

Edmund Drozek is a member of the Senior Advisory Commission and he is concerned with safety of "trikes" as they need more room than a bike and more stable ground.
