The 4-3 vote in favor of a low entry barrier shelter adjacent to a residential area despite 80-95% of the residents in opposition, and huge financial burden while in deficit, was a loss of democracy to your city residents.
The city residents continued to find ways to make things work with just one caveat - "safety first". The main demand was to ensure that background checks get done. Y ou are now obligated to ensure that the families, especially kids, living in that shelter also remain safe.

The FY24 Annual Action Plan includes recommendations for award of CDBG funds to agencies providing services to low & extremely low income residents in Santa Clara. Bill Wilson Center receives CDBG funds to support school-based counseling services for youth and families in the Santa Clara Unified School District.
Please approve the Plan so Bill Wilson Center can continue to provide this service to youth and families in our community. Y outh and families who otherwise wouldn't access counseling.
