The Honorable Lisa M. Gillmor
and City Council Members
1500 Warburton Avenue
Santa Clara, California 95050
Subject: Liberty Tower Elevator Modernization
Dear Mayor Gillmor and Council Members:

We were incredibly grateful to hear from City staff that they were able to find additional funding to increase the City's contribution to our original request of $750,000.00 for the Liberty Tower elevator modernization project. The efforts of the City Council in supporting and recognizing the important nature of this physical plant upgrade is sincerely appreciated.

As stated previously, considering the critical nature of modernizing both elevators at the same time, and the direct benefit it provides to our senior population, we were committed to release most of our Reserve for Replacements to see this upgrade completed. Now that there is additional funding available from the City, we can address other aging systems in our 50-year-old building.

Specifically, replacement of major plumbing pipes throughout the high-rise. As a nonprofit, we are always tasked to prioritize capital improvement projects. The City has now made it possible for us to continue to make Liberty Tower a better home for our residents.

Although I will be out of town on Tuesday, May 9th, my representative will be attending that Council meeting and will be available to answer any questions.

Thank you for your consideration.

We are grateful for the City of Santa Clara's ongoing support of individuals with developmental disabilities, and are requesting another two years of CDBG funding through the City of Santa Clara to enable us to continue to serve clients in EMCC with this same high level and quality of service, and with all of the activities that make this program a rewarding, diverse, and beneficial one for them, their families, the City of Santa Clara, and the larger community.

POST MEETING MATERIAL
Mayor of Santa Clara & City Council Members
1500 Warburton Avenue
Santa Clara, CA, 95050
Honorable Mayor Gillmor & Council Members Watanabe, Chahal, Hardy, Park, Jain, Becker I have lived in the Old Quad area of Santa Clara for over 25 years. I am within a very short walking distance to the Downtown area. I am writing to you today in SUPPORT of the 950 Monroe Street Project, on the corner of Homestead and Monroe.

This project will bring 50 new condominiums and 4 new townhomes that can help energize a NEW DOWNTOWN. As all of you know rebuild the downtown has been an ongoing subject in the city of Santa Clara for far too long. This project will be the first step in making the city of Santa Clara's downtown a reality in my lifetime. Santa Clara has been without a real downtown for far too long.

A few of the benefits this project offers to make a re-imagined downtown are:
• this is the style and future of housing across all of American cities • it is a efficient use of land in the downtown area
• the design is environmentally sustainable
• in alignment with the city's housing element goals
consistent the Downtown Taskforce height requirements
• ideal for us senior citizens that want to live out our golden years in a walk able downtown • new and current restaurants and retailers that will service the downtown In closing I ask all members of the city council and mayor vote to support this project in the downtown area; like you all have stated in past city council meetings your support of the downtown.

Kindly
Mike Walke
