Governance/Ethics Meeting 6/5
Honorable Members and Attendees,
I will be attending today, and comment if
possible as may miss part picking up child
from camp. My major concern is a follow up
from the city attorney on previously mentioned
plan at the last meeting to have a public
meeting wherein he'd address some
contributory ethics ideas. Also, only Suds
responded to my prior letter to the last
meeting, and was much appreciated!
And hopefully, an Ethics Committee will be
formed separately from all the other activities
in the Governance Committee wherein
the
ethics issues of the city will not be solely
controlled by the potential subjects themselves.
Thank You, Wanda Buck

Subject: Governance and Ethics ‐ Why is the Grand Jury Report still not on the agenda? Hello G&E Chair Jain, Councilmember Chahal, Mayor Gillmor, City Attorney Googins, and City Manager Grogan, Can I please understand why the Grand Jury Report is still not on the agenda of this committee? This is now the third committee meetings since the report’s release, and it has still not been addressed. Thankfully, the Independent Ethics Commission topic is on this agenda, but that is just one of many items that need space to be discussed.
It is embarrassing to see that ethics and the issues of public trust are being ignored by this council and staff. This is the Ethics committee, yet ethics is not discussed. Can the city attorney require the Grand Jury Report be on this agenda? Can it be prioritized over minor things, like who can give out proclamations or who can attend a conference? I mean really, are these two things more important than the public trust in the city? This council majority consistently dismissed the need to have an Independent Ethics Commission be formed because the report can be reviewed in this very committee.
Not only has nothing been done on this front, but the Chair seems to be purposefully ignoring the need to do it or focus on Ethics in city government.
Please, do what you got to do to get the Grand Jury Report in front of this committee.
