I enjoy the outdoors and l am an avid hiker and runner. I am also a swimmer and a parent of a competitive swimmer. I trained for my hikes and runs in our parks, trails, on our streets, and in our county parks. My interests drive me to have a keen interest in our parks and recreation programs and desire for them to thrive and serve our My hikes include climbing to Everest Base Camp (altitude 17.5K feel), Stok Kangri (altitude 20K feet), Mt. Shasta (altitude 14.2K feet), Mt. Whitney (altitude 14.5K feet).
Grand Canyon Rim to Rim (one day, 6K feet descent, 5K feet ascent, 27 miles), Runs I have completed include the Chicago and San Jose marathons (26.2 miles) and numerous half marathons (13.1 miles) including San Jose Rock and Roll and San Francisco.

Please state reasons why you want to become a member of this Board/Commission/Committee, including what specific objectives you would be working toward as a member of this advisory board:
As parents, we frequently complain about the amount of time our kids are in front of a screen. As adults we find ourselves and our society plagued by obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. As we age, we find we don't have the stability and strength to have a health-span that malches our modern medicine granted lifespan. I elieve our parks, pools and recreation programs have much to offer to make a substantial difference in our community's well-being. Getting our community outdoors anc active will have secondary benefits of getting them to know each other and to make them be more underslanding of each other and be there for each other Despite all these benefits, we find our resources and programs under utilized and some facilities poorly maintained such as the International Swim Center, which has been down for the last three months and is not the first time, and the Mary Gomez Pool. We can do better as a community and a city.
The way we can do better as a community and a city is if we drive our decisions based on data and outcomes. We can do better if we had greater community participation and listening to their needs, wants and ideas. We can do better if we have better management and oversight.
I believe I have:
- the ability to work with people having worked in small and large organizations and managed very large teams. / have over 30 years of experience of which 25 years have been in leadership positions and 17 years in management positions the creativity and problem solving skills necessary to come up with solutions working with fellow team mates. I have 11 issued US patents in my nam the passion and desire necessary to see the best interest of the community having volunteered to work in and with multiple non-profit and community organization including Catalyze SV, Santa Clara Swim Club, Sanla Clara Community Advocates - a interest in seeing our parks and recreation resources and our community thrive given my, interest in outdoor activities, sports and community organizing for community benefit
- the necessary skills to drive choices and decisions using data, analytics, robust discussions and community support I wish to offer these skills in serving our community on the Park and Recrealions Commission with the objective of improving and belter managing our resources, engaging our community in understanding their needs, developing our programs based on community need, and helping our community thrive.

Santa Clara lots of parks and recreational facilities and I feel that they are not effectively used. County/city needs to plan certain Socio cultural events for community involvement. There are lots of opporunities can be created to bring community to such events.

I have vast event management and management experience to qualify for this position.
