Discussion
• Charter Section 707 requires two regular Council meetings a month but does not specify
date/times
• Meetings traditionally start at 7 p.m. and the City strives to hold closed sessions
and study sessions on the same day between 5 - 7 p.m.
• Occasionally, it’s necessary to schedule a closed session and/or study session on a date that does not coincide with a regular meeting. In these
cases, staf
f poll Councilmembers for availability to attend a “special meeting”. • At times, it’s not possible to find a time when all members of Council are available.
In such cases, albeit rare, staff may need to schedule when a quorum of
the members can attend.
