You don't often get email from [email protected]. Learn why this is important Dear Mayor Gilmore and City Council Members,
My husband and I are hopeful that the City Council makes one of their priorities for this year establishing ways to mitigate the damaging effects of SB 9.

SB 9 has stripped homeowners’,
who purchased Single-Family homes in Very Low-Density neighborhoods, from being able to enjoy a reasonable amount of privacy.

It has done away with long established setbacks that
were designed to protect neighboring property owners’ privacy.

SB 9 has given homeowners
and developers permission to turn 6,000 sq. ft homesites into two story mini apartment complexes with up to 4 units on each lot.

This Bill effectively changed the zoning from 7
single-family homes per acre to 28 units an acre... with no community input!

However, SB 9
also allows for the City of Santa Clara to establish “Objective Zoning Standards”.

We would
like to see this happen in order to safeguard the look of our neighborhoods’, to the degree possible, prior to more damage being done.

Respectfully submitted, Vivian and Tom Shults

I
