I have always bean interested in public senice and the desire to help those in my community in which flive. Because of this belief, I am applying to serve on the Civil Senice Commission. A Commision whose work I deeply understand, and i know I can strongly contribute.
I have lived in Santa Clara since 1983.Iam proud proud to say that have been a resident, homeowner and registered voter, for linose 41 years.
To suppat my community, I sened as a Santa Clara Resene Police Oficer for 8 years, working patrol, special events, and technology crimes.
I have previously served as both the Chairperson and member of the City of Santa Clara Cull Senice Commission for 19 years. During those may years worked to maintain the convents of acherence to and appropriate changes to our policies and positions, within our Civil Senice system.
I have served as Chairperson for perhaps two of the most complex and long lasting Board of Revies by the Civil Senice Commission in recent history.
In both these terminations, the City and terminated individuals from Santa Clara Police Department, did not object to my participation and subsequent adjudication. I mention this only to suggest my credibility, faimess. imperialily and ability to make judgements on orly tha facts presented. in these two cases, the Convission upheld the terminations. One was a senior ranking oficer that I previously served under. The other was the brother of a friend.
In analher complex Board of Review, terminations were reversed. Che subsequertly rose to the rank of Lieutenant. The other, Sergeant. I like to think that I was part of a group that was able to understand the nature of the violation as well as understand the character of the indriduals.
I have also served on the Santa Clara County Civil Grand Jury. As Chair of a group, we reported on many things. One of the notable and highly complex investigations resulted in Endings and arrest of a senior elected official.
I am an individual who has consistently demonstrated the ability to accept responsibilities and perform them with unwavering faimess and insight. look forward to the opportunity to honorably sene, as I had done before, on the City of Santa Clara Civil Senice Commission.

ive long been active in civics affairs in Santa Clara both the city and county because as a lifelong resident of Santa Clara I care deeply about Santa Clara especially our city. So that being said, the cive senice is a vital part of our city and ensuring we live up to our motto of being "the center of what's possible". Some specific objectives would be ensuring fiscal responsibility and that wete getting bang for our buck with what we have/paying for now and making sure by saving money in one area we can free up more money for another area that our city needs.

As a relatively new member of the Santa Clara community who is working tawards a pulic lawcriented career in the legal field, I feel that it is incumbent upon me to take achantage of the opportunities afforded to community members in trying to maxinize the quality of this city. My education background, in combination with the experiences I've gained over the years in a public policy and govemment liaison capacity, have all been aimed at the overarching goal of building myself into a knowledgeable senant of the public. As a student of the law and govemmentel administration in generel, I'm passinate about improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the collective govemmental body tasked with steering the city in which I am a proud resident. Front my perspective, that is exacily the purpose attached to the Civil Senice Commission. A combination of impatial consideration and passionate foresight is necessary for the crying out of the tasks assigned to conmission members, particularly with respect to the hearing of petitions for civl senice comissions.
As a Civl Senice Commission member, Id be interested in expanding upon the interest of Santa Clara residents in serving the city through civi senice, charty and olher clic organizations. Id prioritize the regular recruitment of individuals who might take an interest in such engagemant, particularly at the high school, collegiate and graduate school levels. Id also be interested in boasting and holding discussions with community members regarding their perceptions of what constitutes a good civi senant with respect lo ciul service positions at various levels.
