Draft Commendation
City of SantaClara
WHEREAS, Kimberly Vernon of Santa Clara was crowned Miss California in June 2024; she previously served as Miss Santa Clara 2023, Miss Yosemite Valley 2022, and Miss Santa Clara County 2020, 2021, and 2024; and
WHEREAS, Kimberly Vernon is passionate about community service and committed to the accessibility of arts education; her initiative, “Arts for All” aims to increase arts access for the next generation of artists, empowering them to pur sue their dreams and make a true difference in the world; and
WHEREAS, Kimberly Vernon was the head coach of the Santa Clara High School Color Guard team and serves on the board of directors for Arts Education Alliance Bay Area, engaging with elementary schools through story readings and arts activities; and WHEREAS, Kimberly Vernon believes that each act of service, no matter how small, has the power to create a ripple effect of kindness and change. As Miss California she will build off her meaningful impact on Santa Clara to inspire hearts throughout the state with her unwavering commitment to community service.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, LISA M. GILLMOR, by virtue of the authority vested in me as Mayor, and on behalf of the Santa Clara City Council, do hereby recognize Miss California, Kimberly Vernon
as she continues to make a difference in our City, commend her for her many accomplishments, and for her dedication to making the City of Santa Clara and our community a better place to live.
