A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA MODIFYING PARKING REGULATIONS ON BENTON STREET BETWEEN LAWRENCE EXPRESSWAY AND SAN TOMAS EXPRESSWAY WHEREAS, the City of Santa Clara Bicycle Plan Update 2018 was approved and adopted by the Council on September 24, 2019 under Resolution No. 19-8761; WHEREAS, Class IIB Buffered Bicycle Lanes on Benton Street between Lawrence Expressway and San Tomas Expressway was a recommendation within the adopted Bicycle Plan Update 2018; WHEREAS, the City established certain parking regulations on Benton Street between Lawrence Expressway and San Tomas Expressway; WHEREAS, Public Works staff determined that a modification to the existing parking regulations is necessary to accommodate the proposed Class IIB Buffered Bicycle Lanes and maintain four travel lanes; and WHEREAS, the City intends to establish new parking regulations on Benton Street between Lawrence Expressway and San Tomas Expressway based on City Public Works staff findings.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY OF SANTA CLARA AS FOLLOWS:
That the City Manager, or designee, is authorized to establish “No Stopping Anytime” zones along the southside of Benton Street from Lawrence Expressway to Live Oak Drive and Kiely Boulevard to San Tomas Expressway and along the north side of Benton Street from Live Oak Drive to Kiely Boulevard.
Condition Precedent. The authority granted under this Resolution are conditioned and subject to the City Council’s approval of a capital project to construct Class IIB Buffered Bicycle Lanes on Benton Street between Lawrence Expressway and San Tomas Expressway.
Effective date. This resolution shall become effective immediately.
