You don't often get email from [email protected]. Learn why this is important Dear Santa Clara Clerk,
I hope this message finds you well. I would like to share the below email with you in terms of the upcoming council meeting. Please consider this email as an ecomment for the meeting agenda.

I am writing on behalf of concerned residents and homeowners in Santa Clara regarding the ongoing and persistent issue of illegal trash dumping, RV parking, and encampments in several neighborhoods, including Hope Drive, Bassett Street, Lafayette Street, and surrounding areas.

The Need for a Sustainable Solution
While we appreciate the City's ongoing efforts to address homelessness and provide support services, temporary cleanups and enforcement actions have not provided a lasting solution. These encampments and illegally parked RVs continue to return , bringing increased
public safety concerns, sanitation issues, and declining property values for homeowners.

We recognize the complexities of addressing homelessness and the importance of compassionate solutions. However, as tax-paying residents who work hard to contribute to our community, we also expect safe, clean, and well-maintained streets. The current situation places an unfair burden on homeowners and businesses, who are left to deal with the consequences of inadequate enforcement and long-term planning.

Proposed Actions for Long-Term Impact
To ensure a sustainable solution, we respectfully request the City to explore and implement the following measures:

1. Designated RV Parking Areas
Establish designated zones for RV parking outside of residential neighborhoods to provide structured solutions for vehicle dwellers.

2. Strict Parking Enforcement & Preventative Measures
As seen in several areas within the City, please implement “No Parking Over 20ft” signs, installation of parking delineators, permit-based overnight parking, and regular enforcement patrols to prevent RVs from parking illegally.

Increase police and community monitoring to ensure compliance with parking restrictions.

3. Regular Cleanup and Maintenance
Please introduce scheduled and ongoing cleanups to prevent the accumulation of waste and unsanitary conditions. Unfortunately, many of the residents on Hope Drive observed that various people from Neighbourhood cities are bringing their trash and dumping it on Hope to drive because there is no control and measurements unfortunately.

Please also re-landscape the north shoulder of Hope Drive as it is worn away because of the trashes and RV parks.

The bike lane is not safe to drive because there’s always trash on the road and it is spreading into black lines.

Please enforce dash cams on Hope Street to prevent illegal dumpings and 72 hour parking Law.

4. Protecting Santa Clara’s Reputation Ahead of the 2026 World Cup With the 2026 FIFA World Cup approaching, it is crucial for Santa Clara to uphold a strong public image as a clean, safe, and welcoming city. Proactively addressing this issue now will ensure that our community reflects the best of what Santa Clara has to offer.

A Call for Leadership & Action
First of all, please ensure that all the residents are here to help and enhance these situations.

We ask for your leadership in prioritizing sustainable, long-term solutions to this issue.

Temporary enforcement and reactive cleanups are not enough—we need a proactive, structured, and results-driven plan that ensures the well-being of all Santa Clara residents, both housed and unhoused.

I, along with other concerned homeowners, would appreciate the opportunity to discuss this matter further and learn more about the City’s planned course of action. Please let us know how we can collaborate with your office to find a solution that benefits our entire community.

Thank you for your time and attention to this urgent matter. I will attach some photos just to give some idea on how bad it getting.

I look forward to your response and to working together toward a lasting solution.

Sincerely,
Best,
On behalf of Hope Dr Residents and Homeowners
