Dear City Officials,
With the 2026 World Cup approaching, Santa Clara faces international exposure. The blight, RV camps, and dumping on Lafayette St, Hope Drive and Bassett Street don't reflect our values.
Action needed before global showcase:
_ Install No RV Parking/Dumping signs
_ Increase cleanups/washing to mitigate human wastes
_ Add cameras/parking delineators to deter long term parking Let's present Santa Clara as world-class, not plagued by safety and sanitation issues.
Thank you!

Councilors are being offered a sole source recommendation based on "private market research" and "confidential analysis" that appear not to be made available to the Council. Isn't it the Council's job to know what's going on? Aren't competitive bids designed to provide insight? If this contract is approved based on criteria presented here then the City is buying a pig in a poke (a product in a black box).

See p. 51 flooring for $50K tunnel foot traffic, synthetic turf (ST), & for $160K service corridor "matting." Though cheaper ST wears fast & needs replacing often. ST is not recyclable & will contribute to plastic pollution in landfill or incineration in low-income 'cancer alleys' in other states. If "matting," like ST, is synthetic petroleum-based, it will suffer the same fate as ST. To stop slipping a rough surface is needed, e.g., pervious concrete works, lasts (saving $) & is recyclable.
