Joining the Santa Clara Parks & Recreation Commission presents several meaningful opportunities 1) Influence Park Development and Rehabilitation - I look forward to working with the commission to review residential developer proposals for new neighborhood parks and provide input on park rehabilitation projects. This is an exciting opportunity to shape the city s green spaces and ensure they meet the community's evolving needs. 2) Participate in Major City Events - I would like to be actively involved in organizing and contributing to citywide celebrations like the Santa Clara Art & Wine Festival and the annual Holiday Tree Lighting, 1 also would love to revisit bringing back the 4th of July community celebration that once brought residents out to Central Park for a fun day of social activities.
3) Contribute to the Parks & Recreation Master Plan - I'm eager to participate in the city's long-term planning for park spaces, recreation facilities, and accessibility improvements. This goal is particularly important given the recent passage of Measure I and the unique opportunities that additional funding would create for our city's park spaces.
In addition to my stated goals above, I pledge to diligently fulfill my obligations as a commissioner, which includes regularly attending commission meetings, visiting the city's 40+ parks and facilities, and reporting back to the commission my findings.

Currently, I serve as a Santa Clara County Fish and Game Commissioner. However, with that commission being sunsetted, I'm exploring new opportunities to continue making a positive impact in my community.
I've been a proud resident of Santa Clara and a neighbor to Machado Park and the Briarwood Little League fields for over two decades. I actively participated in community hearings for the Machado Park modernization and am now eager to expand my involvement in local initiatives across the city.

As a lifelong steward, student and participant in open spaces, ecosystems and outdoor recreation, I would like to use my retirement years to serve my local community in these aspects. I have prior experience in representing my community n local open space and development issues. Most notably, I co-started and drove the campaian to save the multi-use field at Luther School from development by organizing the local community and petitioning CUSD and the City. Later on, I advised and championed for the group that was trying to create a cricket field on these grounds. Similarly. I was also part of community efforts to provide Santa Clara input to adjacent developments in Cupertino (Vallco) and San Jose Stevens Creek Urban Village). Also, as a long time swimmer, I have followed closely the plans and issues around the ISC, which is one of the Citys Rec Jewels that I would love to be involved with! As a member of this Commission, I look forward to bringing new ideas in the use and preservation of parks as well as recreation ideas, coupled with a pragmatic approach to operating with fiscal prudence.

My interests are in community activities which encourage people from all nations. regions, faith, culture, sexua orientation, etc; not only to be able to share their values, but also respectfully accept that of others. I have been working with cultural commission and Park & Rec department to host an authentic Diwali or Holi event in collaboration with City of Santa Clara. This event will be different than the other Diwali or Holi events, which have commercial agenda. This event will be planned and executed by common Santa Clara residents for Santa Clara residents, small business (music & dance schools), and non-profits.
