RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council:
1. Conduct a second reading and adopt an ordinance entitled “AN ORDINANCE OF THE
CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA CLARITA, CALIFORNIA, AMENDING SECTION 2.08.100 OF THE SANTA CLARITA MUNICIPAL CODE CONCERNING CITY MANAGER REMOVAL METHOD AND NOTICE.”
2. Approve the amendment to the City Manager Employment Agreement that reflects the amendment to the Municipal Code.
BACKGROUND
At the November 23, 2021, City Council meeting in Closed Session, the City Council delivered an annual performance evaluation for City Manager, Kenneth W. Striplin. The annual performance evaluation highlighted exemplary performance, and the City Council would like to demonstrate a vote of confidence and provide assurance to the City Manager of his continued leadership. This ordinance will amend Section 2.08.100 of the Santa Clarita Municipal Code and state that the removal of the City Manager shall change from a majority vote to a 4/5 vote of the whole Council in a regular Council meeting. The City Manager’s Employment Agreement also reflects this change to the Municipal Code.
