CITY ATTORNEY ANNOUNCEMENT
City Attorney Joseph Montes announced that there is presently a dispute between the contractor on the Central Park project and his subcontractors in terms of amounts owed. The amounts the subcontractors claim exceeds the amount that the City owes the Contractor, so the Council voted unanimously to authorize the filing of an interpleader action, pursuant to which the City will deposit with the court the amounts that the City owes to the Contractor, and the subcontractors can litigate against the Contractor over their share of the Contract proceeds. The defendants will

be the Contractor, the subcontractors claiming they are owed payments, and the bonding company for the project.
