RECOMMENDED ACTION
City Council approve and authorize the City Manager or designee execute the attached Grant of Easement to Southern California Edison, subject to final laguage approval by the City Attorney.
BACKGROUND
Southern California Edison (SCE) is requesting an easement to install new equipment in the Sand Canyon area of the City of Santa Clarita (City). The proposed project requiring this easement is part of a larger effort to minimize the number of customers impacted during a Public Safety Power Shut-off, and to reduce the risk of ignitions and power outages. The proposed project would underground power lines that are currently above ground, located on property owned by the City, Assessor’s Parcel Number 2481-015-902.
The 1,966-foot easement would support work needed to install and maintain underground power lines for new equipment. SCE is planning to underground utilities throughout Sand Canyon and surrounding areas and will conduct a community outreach program in advance of construction.
ALTERNATIVE ACTION
Other action as determined by the City Council.
FISCAL IMPACT
There is no impact to the General Fund as a result of this action. The City will receive a one-time payment of $1,000 from Southern California Edison if the easement is granted.
