26000 Springbrook Avenue, Unit 101, Saugus CA 91350
March 11, 2025 Darin Seegmiller City of Santa Clarita 23920 Valencia Blvd. Santa Clarita, CA 91355 RE: Request for Early Termination of Continuation Rights Mr. Seegmiller, On January 1, 2023, Burrtec Waste Industries and the City of Santa Clarita entered into the Agreement for the Continuation Rights for Residential Solid Waste Collection for the Tesoro Del Valle Annexed Area of Santa Clarita, which is set to expire on October 31, 2025. Due to disposal changes and anticipated rate increases Burrtec requests to terminate these continuation rights as of June 30, 2025. On January 14, 2025, in response to the closure of Chiquita Canyon Landfill, the City Council approved Burrtec’s transition to Waste Management’s Sun Valley Recycle Park. As a result, Burrtec has adjusted its operations, which affects the Tesoro Del Valle annexed area as well. To align with the City's contract and keep services and rates consistent for all City of Santa Clarita residents, we respectfully request that our continuation rights conclude on June 30, 2025, rather than October 31, 2025. Please let us know how we may proceed. We appreciate your time and consideration. Sincerely, Dennis Verner Municipal Manager
