SUBJECT: RETIREMENT RESOLUTION FOR SENIOR PLANS EXAMINER
THOMAS (TOM) JACK
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council adopt a Resolution commending Senior Plans Examiner Thomas (Tom) Jack for his 18 years of outstanding service to the City of Santa Maria and congratulating him on his retirement.
BACKGROUND:
Senior Plans Examiner Tom Jack began his career with the City of Santa Maria in October 2003, as a building inspector, and later as a plans examiner, after over 30 years in the private sector of the construction industry.
Tom began his career in construction in 1972, loading trucks for a tile contractor and later installing drywall. It was not until 2002 in which Tom enrolled in a Construction Technology program at Ventura College and obtained an associate degree and certification as a building inspector. This provided a new career path for Tom within the public sector.
Tom has provided many years of excellent service to the residents of Santa Maria. He is known for his calm demeanor and diligent work, providing clear information and sound guidance to residents, developers, business owners, and other industry professionals. He is well -liked among his colleagues and peers, who look to him for guidance and support.
Tom has played an important role in ensuring that construction development in Santa Maria meets all building- and life -safety standards, ensuring health and welfare.
Tom retired on January 28, 2022, after 18 years of dedicated service to the City of Santa Maria, its residents, and the development and business community. The City of Santa Maria and the Community Development Department would like to recognize Tom Jack for his service and congratulate him on his retirement.

THOMAS (TOM) JACK FOR HIS 18 YEARS OF OUTSTANDING SERVICE
TO THE CITY OF SANTA MARIA AND CONGRATULATING HIM
ON HIS RETIREMENT
WHEREAS, Tom Jack has been employed by and has faithfully served the City of Santa Maria for 18 years as a dedicated public servant demonstrating professionalism and commitment to the building and safety profession; and WHEREAS, Tom Jack spent his 18 -year career with the City of Santa Maria as a Building Inspector, Plans Examiner, and Senior Plans Examiner; and WHEREAS, Tom Jack has provided excellent customer service to residents, developers, business owners, and other industry professionals by providing clear information and sound guidance in a courteous manner; and WHEREAS, Tom Jack has played an important role in ensuring that construction development in Santa Maria meets State and local building- and life -safety standards, ensuring health and welfare for Santa Maria residents, business owners, and visitors.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED, by the City Council of the City of Santa Maria, that
"SENIOR PLANS EXAMINER TOM JACK"
is commended for his faithful and devoted service to the Santa Maria community, is congratulated on his retirement, and he and his family are wished good health and many years of happiness.
