FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF MAY 3, 2022
COUNCIL AGENDA REPORT
TO: City Council
FROM: City Manager
Prepared by: Chief Deputy City Clerk
SUBJECT: PRESENTATION: SERVE SANTA MARIA
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council receive a presentation by Pastor Carl Nielsen regarding the recent Serve Santa Maria Day held on April 30, 2022.
BACKGROUND:
Created by Carl Nielsen, pastor of Bethel Lutheran Church, Serve Santa Maria hosts semi-annual service days where hundreds of volunteers show up at locations throughout the City to complete landscaping, painting, and other beautification projects.
This year's spring project day included painting the playground at Pine Grove Elementary School, pulling weeds at Buena Vista Park, and graffiti removal on Depot Street to name just a few projects.
The service day in April was Serve Santa Maria's 21St since its 2010 inception. The next Serve Santa Maria service day will be in the Fall of 2022.
