SUBJECT: PRESENTATION — SANTA BARBARA COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF
GOVERNMENTS REGIONAL BROADBAND STRATEGY PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council receive a presentation from the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments regarding its Regional Broadband Strategy Project.
BACKGROUND:
The Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) will present an update on its Regional Broadband Strategy Project. The City of Santa Maria is partnering with SBCAG, the Broadband Consortium of the Pacific Coast (BCPC), the County of Santa Barbara, and six other cities in a project to bring high-speed broadband to the region.
Maria Kelly, Project Coordinator, and Bill Simmons, Project Lead, will share an overview of legislation that supports the project, the general timeline for the development of the strategic plan, intended outcomes, and the results of some preliminary data collected thus far.
