SUBJECT: PRESENTATION — SANTA BARBARA COUNTY ASSOCIATION OF
GOVERNMENTS REGIONAL BROADBAND STRATEGY PROJECT
RECOMMENDATION:
That the City Council receive a presentation from the Santa Barbara County Association of Governments with an update regarding its Regional Broadband Strategy Project.
BACKGROUND:
The Santa Barbara County Association of Governments (SBCAG) will present an update on its Regional Broadband Strategy Project. The City of Santa Maria is partnering with SBCAG, the Broadband Consortium of the Pacific Coast (BCPC), the County of Santa Barbara, and six other cities in a project to bring more affordable and accessible high- speed broadband to the region. Bill Simmons and Shelby Arthur, from BCPC, will share the timeline for the strategic plan, activities completed to date, results of data collection, recommended local and regional actions, and next steps as the strategic planning project nears completion.
