RESOLUTION NO.
A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF SANTA MARIA,
CALIFORNIA, ACCEPTING AN ASSISTANCE TO FIREFIGHTERS GRANT (#EMW-2021-FG-02509) FROM THE FEDERAL EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
AGENCY (FEMA) FOR WELLNESS PHYSICALS FOR SANTA MARIA FIRE
DEPARTMENT PERSONNEL
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Maria desires to improve firefighter capabilities to save lives and reduce property damage in the community by instituting a wellness and fitness program for Fire Department personnel; and
WHEREAS, the Fire Department would like to reduce the number of workers' compensation claims through wellness and prevention; and WHEREAS, the Fire Department has been awarded grant funding in the amount of $78,000 from FEMA through the Assistance to Firefighters Grant program.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Santa Maria, California, as follows:
1. The City Manager, or designee, is hereby authorized and directed to receive and appropriate any funds awarded through AFG grant #EMW- 2021-FG-02509; and
2. The Chief Deputy City Clerk is hereby authorized to make minor changes herein to address clerical errors, so long as substantial conformance of the intent of this document is maintained. In doing so, the Chief Deputy City Clerk shall consult with the City Manager and City Attorney concerning any changes deemed necessary.
