I submit the following Public Comment for the City Council meeting of 21 February 2023:
I am requesting the Santa Maria City Council to investigate and resolve the weekly vehicle crimes that happens literally a block from Santa Maria Police Department. These vehicle “break in s” happen weekly on, Biscayne St across from Jimenez Elementary School (between Sonya lane and Carmen Lane).
The amount of vehicles that have been broken into has left a trail of broken glass along the sidewalk. If the police are not able to deter these crimes, then the addi
tion of several more police cameras (like the one over looking Jimenez Park) should be installed. Something has to change in this area to reduce crime.
