CITY OF SANTA MARIA
PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Santa Maria will conduct a public hearing on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at 5:30 p.m. in the Council Chambers, 110 East Cook Street, Santa Maria, California, to consider the following:
APPROVING THE ADDITION AND UPDATE OF USER FEES IDENTIFIED IN THE ANNUAL USER FEE UPDATE REPORT AND PROPOSED USER FEE SCHEDULE. The City Council will review a request to approve new and updated user fees for several City Departments. The User Fee philosophy holds that the cost of providing services should be borne by the group receiving the benefit, not the community as a whole. User fee services are differentiated from the general public benefit services, such as police and fire that are largely tax-supported. For the most part, City fees should be set at full cost recovery to avoid subsidizing activities of specific groups/individuals. However, to promote activities and actions, fees may be set at less than full cost recovery.
Information regarding the proposed new or increased fees and supporting data has been made available for public inspection in the City Clerk’s Office at 110 E. Cook Street at least 10 days in advance of the public hearing. The full Council Agenda Report for his item will be available for public review and posted to the City’s Agenda Center & Meetings Portal at https://cityofsantamaria.org/meetings by Friday, March 31st.
All interested persons are invited to attend the meeting. Instructions to register for the meeting via Zoom will be available on the City’s website agenda. If you challenge the above-noticed project in court, you may be limited to raising those issues you or someone else raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the City of Santa Maria at, or prior to, the public hearing. The City of Santa Maria welcomes orderly participation at its meetings from all members of the public. As required by the Americans with Disabilities Act, the City has assisted listening equipment available for the hearing impaired. To request assistance, please call (805) 925-0951, extension 2307. For TDD (Telecommunications Devices for the Deaf) call (800) 735-2929. For the City to make reasonable accommodation arrangements for the use of this assisted listening equipment, notification is required by at least 4:00 p.m. the Friday before the meeting by calling (805) 925-0951, extension 2307. This equipment can also be used for interpretation services by Spanish-only speaking persons. To allow the City to coordinate and request a Spanish interpreter from the volunteer corps, call (805) 925-0951, extension 2307 by 1:00 p.m. on Monday before the meeting.
