*** EXTERNAL EMAIL: Please use caution when opening links or attachments.*** I submit the following Public Comment for the City Council meeting of 4/4/23
To Whom It May Concern:
When I had to go into a home for my mental health safety, I asked Michelle Ward at ILRC to help me find housing.
Michelle was really nice when she came to visit and gave me hope that someday I can live on my own. She always reminded me that my situation wasn’t permanent and that helped a lot. She helped me update all my housing applications with the county.
Michelle got me a higher priority on the housing list so I can maybe get it faster.
After talking with my Mom, I decided that I was going to live with her temporarily.
Michelle was very supportive. She made sure that I knew all my meds and what they were for. She suggested I get a daily pill case to remind me to take my pills everyday.
After I left the facility and moved in with my mom, Michelle called me once a week to make sure I was doing well.
I think that ILRC is very important to people like me with disabilities. Their services are essential and they should get the highest praises. I don’t know what I would have done if I didn’t have Michelle and ILRC to help me organize leaving the mental health facility.
Please consider fully funding ILRC so that other people like me benefit from them.
Thank you,
Anna Willams
