Proclamation
WHEREAS, Active Aging Week is celebrated nationwide for all to change the negative perception of aging in our society; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Maria observes Active Aging Week to demonstrate Santa Maria’s residents can thrive regardless of age or health status; and
WHEREAS, it recognize s that the City’s active aging population enriches our community by providing their skills in various opportunities; and
WHEREAS, The City of Santa Maria is dedicated to delivering excellent services for seniors, encompassing a wide range of offerings such as leisure activities, exercise classes, health screenings, and fitness testing; and
WHEREAS, active adults who are fully engaged in our society will contribute to the City as part-time employees, volunteers, mentors, and role models; and
WHEREAS, for the past 12 years, the City of Santa Maria has acknowledged Active Aging Week in its continuous effort to recognize our aging population as an asset to our community’s rich diversity and history
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALICE M. PATINO, Mayor of the City of Santa Maria hereby proclaim October 2nd through October 9th, 2023, as
“ACTIVE AGING WEEK”
In the City of Santa Maria, the community is committed to uplifting our senior population and future generations. The ongoing success is a testament to unwavering dedication in providing high -quality services . The Recreation and Parks Department strive to create a thriving environment that caters to the needs of all community members, ensuring a bright future for everyone.
