I reside in Santa Barbara county and am concerned about land use. I want to express my opposition to Alternative C which would remove 1000 acres of agricultural land for the purpose of building housing.
This land is vital to the economy of the city of Santa Maria as it provides many jobs. It also is needed for the health of the environment. New use of this land will create a new community which will add to the budgetary challenges of the city and also interfere with the city's proclaimed effort to establish policies to fight climate change.
I support alternative B as being less damaging to the environment. Other land should be found to construct housing.
