SUBJECT: Business of the Month – November 2023
The Mayor and City Council p resent a certificate to the featured Business of the Month for November 2023 – the Santa Maria Country Club.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Santa Maria and the Santa Maria Valley Chamber of Commerce have partnered to highlight different businesses in the City through a Business of the Month Program. For the next year, this program gives recognition to local businesses for their lon gevity and/or for providing significant healthcare contributions. Not only does this give valuable exposure to these local businesses, but it also reminds the community of the unique, diverse, and long - standing businesses they are fortunate to have in Santa Maria.
This month’s long -standing business is the Santa Maria Country Club at 505 West Waller Lane. Established in 1921, the Country Club now has 68 employees. It provides a clubhouse, an 18 -hole golf course, tennis and pickleball courts, catering, and a pro shop. Many community events, galas, weddings, and fund -raisers take place on its grounds. The Santa Maria Country Club hosts many non -profit businesses, promoting and supporting them through participation in their events or donations. The Santa Maria Country Club is applying to renovate its Snack Shack and hopes to add a fitness facility. Representing the Santa Maria County Club tonight are Dennis Ozzimo, Board President; Tony Cossa, Board Vice President; and Donna Denham, General Manager.
