BACKGROUND:
Fire Department Staff have compiled a report concerning the status of Fire Department facilities.
DISCUSSION:
Santa Maria Fire Department responds to over 12,300 ca lls for service annually, to the 110,000+ residents of the City of Santa Maria. The firefighters who respond to those calls do so from six fire stations strategically located throughout the City. Those facilities see a substantial amount of physical wear due to use. Preventative and routine maintenance help keep stations in operable condition, but replacements and updates increase the durability and longevity of facilities. The Fire Department has instituted a program to inspect the stations on an annual basis to ensure that maintenance issues are identified and corrected promptly to keep the facilities in an operable condition.
Fiscal Considerations
The document is a reference tool that may be used to assist in budgeting.
Impact to the Community
Well-maintained facilities improve the longevity of those facilities and long -term costs to the community are reduced.
