Proclamation
WHEREAS, the week of April 1 through5, 20 24, has been designated as “National Community Development Week ” to recognize and celebrate the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program and the HOME Investment Partnership (HOME) Program; and
WHEREAS, since 1974, the CDBG Program has provided annual funding and flexibility to local communities to provide affordable housing, a suitable living environment, and basic human services; and
WHEREAS, since 1990, the HOME Program has created and preserved affordable housing for low-income families; and
WHEREAS, annually the City of Santa Maria receives an average of $1.4 million in CDBG funds and an average of $300,000 in HOME funds.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, ALICE M. PATINO, Mayor of the City of Santa Maria, do hereby recognize the week of April 1 through 5, 2024, as:
“NATIONAL COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT WEEK”
in the City of Santa Maria to celebrate and showcase the programs and projects which are funded by federal grant programs like Community Development Block Grants and HOME Investment Partnership.
