SUBJECT: Proclamation – “National Day of Prayer” – May 2, 2024
Present a Proclamation recognizing May 2nd, 2024, as “National Day of Prayer” in the City of Santa Maria, and encourage people of all faiths to participate in “Day of Prayer” according to their own traditions.
BACKGROUND:
National Day of Prayer is an annual event established by an Act of Congress in 1952 and signed into law by President Harry S. Truman. Designated to be on the first Thursday in May each year, the day is celebrated by all faiths as they pray for America, it s people, and its leaders. The Proclamation is brought forth every year to raise awareness of the importance of faith in history and historical decision-making.
