Travel Lanes:

Alligator
Cracking
• Typically travel lanes are in worse conditions (exhibiting structural distresses such as alligator cracking) as they carry majority of the traffic. • Typically condition of travel lanes trigger pavement treatment for the entire pavement width
• Typically turn lanes, parking lanes, & shoulder don’t exhibit frequent load related distresses and/or don’t carry load at the same frequency of traffic as travel lanes
• Travel lanes are used by the traveling public much more than the turning lanes. • Combination of intensive (mill & overlay or more) treatment in the lanes and preventive (seal & localized base repair) treatment address the entire width of pavement at a cheaper cost.

HOW DO WE DECIDE
Major Factors to help us decide what Roads?
- Safety, PCI, and Traffic Volumes. Highest impact to driver - Collaboration between Operations (Ops) & Engineering
- What Streets are taking the most time for Ops to maintain - ADA requirements
- Drainage Issues – Such as Miller
- City Ops Crews on Lower traffic streets
